Dorset Jurassic Travels
Ruby took a little road trip along the coast in Dorset.
Travelling through lovely Lyme Regis following the steep high street lined with interesting little shops and cafe’s. Past the famous stone Cobb where the French lieutenant’s woman and other notable productions have been filmed. You can also fine the new life size Mary Anning statue close to the town with her little dog in tow.
A stop off at Charmouth beach and Heritage Centre, fossils galore and a fascinating discovery centre. Taking you back through the Jurassic coast time line. Coffee, tea’s, ice creams and much more available should you need a top up before moving on.
Burton Bradstock beach next for a longer stop off in the grassy National Trust car park. Lots of room to dip into a delicious picnic fresh from Ruby’s on board fridge.
A wander along the beautiful South West Coastal Path listening to the skylarks singing and chattering dunock’s. Take in the view of the vast expanse of Cogden beach leading onto the start of the amazing Chesil Beach.
Feeling refreshed the next port of call is Abbotsbury Swannery. You can meander down the board walks and depending on the time of year can see the nesting swans. The month of May is a good time to see the new baby swans (cygnet’s). Not far away is the Abbotsbury sub tropical gardens – there really is something for everyone!
You pass through beautiful villages with the quaint stone built cottages and can marvel at the breath taking views. IF you hire a classic VW campervan you sit a little higher and see so much more!
