Campo had an easy ride back to his new home in East Devon in the West Country. We secured him safely to the transporter trailer, He enjoyed a faster ride than if he’d done it himself! hence Campo easy rider! We got quite a few cheery waves en route he certainly proves to be an attention grabber.
Campo is our celebrity campervan. He’s a classic 1973 T2 VW which makes him nearly 50 years old! He is waiting his turn for restoration & full fit out and is due to be ready for the summer of 2020. Why not follow us on social media and keep an eye on how he’s doing!
Known as Campo in the Cbeebies series Grandpa in my Pocket staring James Bolam, the first episode was shown in 2009 and the vehicle as a result has become very well-known with young viewers. It was especially hand painted for Grandpa in my Pocket in a very colourful beach scene originally by artists Steve Beck and Sam Joy. This art work was chosen by the BBC to which they own the rights, especially for the programme as a result he is a one off!

Campo will be undergoing a major refurbishment. He needs some body work to keep him in good shape. He will also have a updated interior with new rock and roll bed and kitchen unit housing a proper fridge with ice compartment and 2 ring gas stove. It also means we can modernize him discreetly to be safe for our customers with a gas safe locker to comply with legislation and CO2 and smoke alarms.
We hope to have him ready late in 2020 season. Check back for up dates. He will be retaining his fabulous art work.
