We took Monty out 2 years ago for our honeymoon. loved so much, we have just returned from a fantastic week in Cornwall, this time with Campo. Rob and Tammy... are so easy to work with while planning. the whole process is streamlined and professionally conducted. Campo was a great home from home from Monday afternoon. You have no trouble driving the narrow lanes as its not much bigger than a car. 10 out of 10 again both, we most certainly recommend FreebirdCampers.

When looking for a VW campervan for a birthday roadtrip we came across Bob at Freebird Campers and knew he was the one.
Thr booking process and introduction... of the behicle were very easy and Rob and Tammy were great.
We drove all across Cornwall and Bob was unique to drive and equipped with everything we needed for our trip.
We would definitely reccomend and would love to use a Freebird Campervan in the future!

Had the most amazing weekend in Bob travelling around Cornwall. Bob was stunning and immaculate throughout! Every little thing was thought of and available in... the camper to make our travels more enjoyable. Tammy and Rob was amazing too and had so much for information on the campers and was available all weekend for us in case we needed it, nothing was too much trouble. I was 100% book again and would recommend anyone to give them a try!read more

I cannot recommend Freebird Campers highly enough. The communication from Tammy and Rob was fantastic, both with us and our daughters who bought us a weekend... experience as a Christmas present. We hired Campo and had a fantastic time touring parts of Devon and Dorset. Lots of people stopped to talk to us and admire Campo who was immaculate inside and out. Rob and Tammy guided me through booking booking Monty as a 50th birthday surprise for my partner Steve, who has always... wanted a VW Camper ... I couldn't afford to buy one, so rented one for a few days.
Rob and Tammy had thought of everything, talking us through everything at collection to ensure a trouble free break. They also had some essentials you may need packed in the camper - allowing us to concentrate on bringing just our personal bits.
Freebird Campers offered a fantastic service from first contact to hand back - and we would definitely love to rent again.
(Already looking at when we can book time off work and return for another rental)

This is our second year of hiring a VW camper from Freebird Campers, last year Bob and this year Monty.
Would thoroughly recommend. Vans are of a high... quality in terms of safety and equipment, the owners have thought of everything!
Great fun travelling around the south coast or using as a base in a camp site of your choice. Looking forward to taking Campo on a road trip next year!

We hired Monty for 5 days and instantly fell in love with him .Monty has everything needed to enjoy your holiday. Such a joy to drive and everybody who sees... him smiles and waves . I hired Monty for my partners 30th and we both had the best time travelling around Cornwall in style! One experience we will never forget 🌅
Where do we even start? Hired BOB out for bank holiday weekend and was the best experience we’ve ever had! We... toured around parts of Cornwall exploring different beaches and it’s safe to say we travelled around in style.
We was slightly worried about not being able to get the hang of driving him but within 10 minutes it was super easy. He was very comfortable to drive around in not to mention the continuous waves from other fellow VW campers- making us feel like we were part of the club. BOB has all the facilities needed on board to make the experience run smoothly. The main bed was spacious & super comfy as well.
Tammy & Rob were both very welcoming, kind and easy to talk to which made us feel at ease. Explained perfectly everything we needed to know & more.

Amazing family holiday memories!!
We loved driving round in Bob getting waves and smiles from people we passed.
Great handover on collection and we... soon settled into the slower pace of life that comes from driving Bob.
Great way to experience beautiful Devon…with the added bonus of cups of tea whenever we stopped!!

Making memories with Monty
Last summer, we had the most fantastic time discovering the delights of Cornwall with Monty and made so many great memories... that we will treasure forever.
Monty has been finished to a very high spec whilst keeping it’s true VW identity. He is Immaculate inside and out and comes with all the equipment you need for a camping holiday and a lovely welcome pack which included everything to make a brew and wash up.
Our little girl (aged 4) loved sleeping up top. It was easy to set up and there was plenty of space and hight. She still talks about how much fun she had on this trip and how much she loved Monty.
Owners Tammy and Rob where fantastic, promptly responding to my enquires and adhering to social distancing and safety measures on collection.
We would highly recommend Freebird Campers and we are already counting down the days until our next adventure this summer with Monty!read more

Just finished another wonderful trip in Monty!! We all love him so much, so much so that our daughter burst into tears when it was time to say goodbye. I mist... admit, I had a tear too.
Tammy and Rob are brilliant and keep their campers in such great condition. Monty drives beautifully and looks even better this year then he did last years.

Just back from an amazing week in Monty. A beautifully restored camper with such attention to detail.
Tammy and Rob couldn’t do any more to make our trip... so memorable, from offering an immaculate Monty to the little things that make such a difference (even supplying a small bottle of washing up liquid, tea and coffee).

Had a amazing time in monty doing the North Devon highway earlier this summer, so comfortable even though I had a knee brace. He taught us to slow down and... enjoy life.

The bus was gorgeous and we had such fun... despite the varied weather!

We took Monty from Devon into Dorset and explored many tiny lanes and byways that would have been difficult in a larger vehicle, yet there is still enough room inside the van to cook and sleep in comfort. If you remember that Monty is into his 40's now and doesn't like to be rushed you will have a great time!

Fantastic weeks holiday had by all in Monty. We had a very warm welcome from Rob and Tammy who showed us the ropes. Fun to drive and wave at other camper vans... along the way, Cornwall is so beautiful and so much to see & do what better way of seeing than in a very cool camper van. We've just a brilliant weekend in Harvest Moon and there was enough space for all 4 of us - the two girls slept "upstairs" and they couldn't have been more... excited. The camper was reliable and really authentic too. The fridge and gas cooker were brilliant and there's more storage than I thought possible. It took us a while to get our heads round how to pack, but we would have loved to have spent longer than 2 nights! We'll be back again for sure! Thanks John and Mary - you were great!read more

We booked Mr Blue Sky a few weeks ago for a hen do and absolutely loved it! The van was clean, fun and a good drive! We enjoyed camping out and the looks we... got from everyone we drove past! It's was a great experience! John was also brilliant! He provided an excellent service, great communication and couldn't help enough! My wife got us a hire as a birthday surprise back in April, were remernising about our time and she reminded me that I... needed to do a review. Wow what a lovely surprise it was. A lovely passionate family ran business. Very knowledgeable and thoughtful, and putting me at ease driving something different. First time we’d ever hired a retro camper. We were looking for a short break in the UK & just to have a bit of an... adventure & this seemed to fit the bill. We weren’t disappointed, Rob & Tammy clearly love their camper vans and have really looked after them. They’ve also thought of everything you might possibly need for a few days away in a camper, & all we needed to bring was our clothes & some food.We (myself, my wife & our 15-year old son) hired ‘Ruby’, absolutely pristine, spotless and really comfortable. Preparing the beds was straightforward & the engine was quieter than anticipated (although the gears take a little getting used to) & don’t forget that there isn’t any power steering!We drove through Dorset to visit Bournemouth, Poole, Charmouth & Lyme Regis & had no problems at all.When we told friends that this was what we were doing for our staycation, everyone seemed to think it would be a fun thing to do & that’s what it turned out to be (you’ve always got to be happy if a teenager thanks you for a really good week!). We’d highly recommend Freebird Campers and will be booking again.read more

Just back from a lovely chilled family weekend with Ruby . Soon got used to the slower pace and the driving of her ,... just keep the revs low and straight in to second gear no problem . Lovely clean and well equipped van couldn't think of anything else we needed apart from better Weather . My girls loved it and already miss her and want to go again next year maybe we will try Bob . We had such a fun weekend with Ruby. Rob and Tammy have literally thought of everything to make hiring her an enjoyable... experience. She is spotless and has been looked after immaculately. The bed is comfortable for 2 adults (we didn’t use the roof bed) and the sink, fridge and gas hob all work well. Everything is explained in writing before the pick up and again in detail on the handover. Rob is extremely knowledgable about his vans, therefore amazing at thoroughly explaining all you need to know. Be prepared to drive slowly up the hills and don’t rush anywhere, just enjoy it and you will love Ruby ❤️read more

As soon as my husband and I clapped eyes on Monty, we were in love! Like all the Classic VW Campervans offered by Rob... and Tammy ( Freebird Campers ), he was immaculate - beautifully restored in every way! We had a wonderful experience in Campo, which was quirky and cute, just as had hoped for. Campo was immaculate and well... equipped for our trip. It was lovely to have coffee, tea and sugar etc to start us off. Rob and Tammy were brilliant and gave lots of helpful advice. Campo was interesting to drive after a modern car and once the weather cleared we enjoyed exploring the local area. We need to order better weather next time! We hired Bob for the week and had a fantastic time exploring Devon and Cornwall. A super high-spec VW Camper with some... excellent finishing touches. Everything was easy to use, with plenty of USB sockets and lights. We hired Bob for a week in May, and thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. He came with everything you should need for... camping. And we were shown how everything works in Bob. We hired Monty and had an absolutely amazing week in North Devon. He was beautiful and came equipped with everything... we needed. He felt safe and comfortable to drive and he was the envy of everyone we passed! He was totally comfortable to sleep in, and for once I managed to sleep until 8am! We were so sad to take him back. Looking forward to booking him for another adventure soon. Tammy and Rob were fantastic at talking us through how Monty works. Brilliant price for hiring such a beautiful vehicle. They were so helpful when arranging the booking... and setting off and we knew they would be at the end of the phone if we needed them from the road . We hired Monty in August 2020 and had the most incredible time. Our wedding was postponed due to covid, therefore... decided to do something special for the long weekend and Monty delivered! We picked Monty up with ease, Tammy & Rob were extremely helpful and talked us through everything. They have clearly taken extra care with all things covid as well. Monty was amazing. We drove to Okehampton, rock/Padstow & finished in our favourite place, Woolacombe. We didn’t have any issues driving Monty, but if we did, Monty is well equipped with breakdown cover & spare parts if needed which put our minds at rest. We had the most amazing adventure with Monty and can’t wait to take another camper out!We would highly recommend hiring a campervan with freebird campers. Absolutely loved Monty, we had such a lovely holiday. Monty was clearly their pride and joy, so well looked after and... looks stunning. He certainly turned plenty of heads!He drove so nicely, it was a pleasure. The interior worked really well with a full width rock and roll bed for my wife and I and the top bed for my daughter. Fantastic weeks holiday had by all in Monty. We had a very warm welcome from Rob and Tammy who showed us the ropes. Fun... to drive and wave at other camper vans along the way, Cornwall is so beautiful and so much to see & do what better way of seeing than in a very cool camper van. We had such an amazing holiday with Monty. We had never driven a classic VW campervan and had always dreamed of a get... away to Cornwall. Everything worked and was so beautifully presented, all we had to do was enjoy Monty and Cornwall together. It was so lovely to take our break at our own pace, stopping whenever we wanted and everything was to hand so a quick cuppa or snack 🙂 We can not wait for our next trip with Montyread more
