Campo in Cornwall
We took a little whistle stop tour to Cornwall in Campo our classic VW campervan. The 1st stop as always was to pick up a tasty lunch at Greendale Farm Shop near Exeter. This is one of our favourite places to grab provisions for a camping trip! They have a huge array of mouth watering goodies, gifts and groceries to suit all tastes.
Then meandering on we then crossed the impressive 335 meter Tamar Bridge at Saltash taking us into Cornwall. Running alongside is the famous Isambard Kingdom Brunel Royal Albert Bridge which carries the main Cornish railway line.
Our Campsite for the night is the beautiful 5* Pentewan Sands. As the name suggests it is right on the sandy beach. Great facilities left us wanting for nothing. They boast a fab restaurant, on site fish & chips and well stock stocked shop. You can even take a dip in the indoor pool complex and visit the kids area if the weather isn’t being so kind!
Our next journey was to head from Pentewan to St Mawes. A pretty little village where we wandered up to the beautiful Castle. Maintained by English heritage with stunning coastal views. The wild garlic flowers rippling in the wind were beautiful. Following the road inland slightly we jumped on the King Harry Ferry to cross the River Fal. Landing amongst the National Trust Trelissick Estate.
Next stop the coastal town of Falmouth, home to the harbour (reputed to be the 3rd largest natural harbour in the world), National Maritime museum, Falmouth university, a huge variety of shop and eateries and beautiful beaches. Oh yes don’t forget to grab a Cornish pasty for lunch!
When we had finally finished all the walking, shopping and eating we hopped back into Campo. Our wonderful retro VW Camper and headed back to the campsite. We were greeted by an amazing double rainbow, nothing done in halves here!
