Although Somerset does still have some coastline and beaches. Such as Minehead and Brean Sands, there are lots interesting places to visit in Somerset. For example some hirers head inland to sample of the beauty of areas such as, Blackdown Hills, Cheddar Gorge. In addition you can soak up the culture and history of Wells Cathedral or Bath.

To this day Cheddar Gorge caves are used to mature cheddar cheese and its numerous apple orchards once made Somerset the leading cider  producing area in the UK.

Meanwhile Somerset has an abundance of National Trust properties including, Barrington Court, Montacute House, Lytes Cary Manor and Coleridge Cottage at Bridgewater, once home to Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

Visit Cheddar Gorge

This is Britain’s biggest gorge, from the stunning stalactite caverns to the dramatic cliffs rising over 450ft.

A world-famous site is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, for instance it which reveals many hidden secrets. Including fascinating stories of our prehistoric ancestors.

Minehead

Minehead’s beautiful beach is known as The Strand. It is a wide expanse of sand, with some areas of shingle and a variety of rock pools. As the tide goes out this sandy stretch of beach therefore becomes ideal for beach games and for building sandcastles.

West Somerset Railway

A heritage steam railway operating between Minehead and Bishop’s Lydeard, near Taunton. It is the longest independent railway in Britain, (20 miles).

Haynes International Motor Museum

Our VW Campervans wouldn’t be out of place at The Haynes International Motor Museum. The UK’s largest exhibition of great cars from around the world. A living and working museum. For example it has over 400 amazing cars and bikes from nostalgic classics of the 50’s and 60’s.
